There may be any number of reasons for needing to restore a company’s data. The Restore procedure can be used to replace data from a backup file or to place data into a separate folder.
To access the Restore form, on the Login form do not select or enter a company in the Company field and enter or select Admin as the User ID. If a password is required, enter the “Admin” password.
If you are currently logged into a company, to access the Restore Company form, go to File and Close Company in the menu. Restore Company will then be available in the File menu.
To restore data:
On the Restore form, click the Browse button to the right of Backup File then navigate to the backup file location and select the desired backup file. The files information will then populate the form. Verify that the Company to Restore, Backup Description and Backup Date are for the correct backup file.
Next, click the Browse button to the right of Destination folder and navigate to the folder that you wish the data will be restored to. The folder may be in the Control folder or elsewhere. If selecting an existing data folder, the folder’s Destination company name will populate the form.
Note: as a safeguard, if the company and the data do not match, the process will alert you and it will not allow you to restore the data over a different company’s existing data.
Also, as an option, the data can be restored to a separate new folder which may be created on-the-fly by browsing and selecting the desired location and then typing in the new data folder name at the end of the path in the Destination Folder field. Upon clicking the Start button, a prompt will appear informing you that the “Folder is not found. Do you want to create it?
The restoration process will start, and the restoration progress will appear in the lower portion of the form until completed.
When the Restore process is successfully completed, a prompt will provide the option to login to the company data.
Upon accessing the restored data, run the Recover process found in the Administrator, Recovery Tools folder.
